Stamp duty

From 1st April 2018 stamp duty in England and Wales will apply as follows:

  • Properties purchased in England will be subject to Stamp Duty Land Tax - see HMRC website.
  • Properties purchased in Wales will be liable to Land Transaction Tax - see Welsh Revenue Authority website.
  • First Time Buyer Relief will not apply to properties purchased in Wales after 1st April 2018.
  • Both HMRC and Welsh Revenue Authority operate a Higher Rate for the purchase of additional properties.
